This month I received my fourth Illumicrate subscription box. Illumicrate is a quarterly subscription box service for book lovers with boxes arriving in February, May, August and November. Illumicrate costs £29.99 per box which includes free shipping in the UK. There are additional shipping costs applied for international customers.
Without further ado, here is what was inside the box this month!
This month’s book was The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid, here is a little about the book:
‘Nemesis is a diabolic. Created to protect a galactic Senators daughter, Sidonia. The girl who has grown up by her side and who is as much a sister as a master. There’s no one Nemesis wouldn’t kill to keep her safe. But when the power-mad Emperor summons Sidonia to the galactic court as a hostage, there is only one way for Nemesis to protect Sidonia.
She must become her…’’
This is a hardback edition with some nice metallic cover art and a quote from the back states ‘Think Game Of Thrones meets The Hunger Games’ which certainly sounds interesting. Accompanying the book was a letter from the author, a bookmark and a signed bookplate which is great to have. I thought it a little strange that this bookmark was a voucher to get 50% off a copy of the featured book but I guess if you enjoy the book and want to give a copy to a friend this would come in handy!
Along with a book each month, each box contains a selection of book themed gifts. The first I spotted was an item I haven’t seen before in a subscription box, a coffee cosy by Sparrow and Wolf. It appears to be of a good quality and features a lovely navy and orange book print design which is exclusive to Illumicrate. I am not a coffee drinker but may use this for my tea mug! Next up was a pair of socks by Happy Socks. These are a colourful, stripy design and a pair of fun socks is always nice to have.
Next up was an ‘Aidan’ candle by Meraki Candles. I have received a Meraki candle in a previous subscription box and they smell very nice. This particular one was created exclusively for Illumicrate with scents of bergamot and sandalwood but I confess I am not familiar with the book that inspired it. Then there was another exclusive item, a notebook by House of Wonderland. This featured a fun ‘Evil Plans’ design and is sure to come in handy.
The box also featured numerous promotional items. These included a sampler for the novel The One Memory of Flora Banks along with a Six of Crows card holder. There were also various postcards for recent and forthcoming releases.
All in all there were some nice items in November’s box with the coffee cosy and the notebook being my favourites and the featured book looks intriguing. This unboxing has now completed a year’s worth of Illumicrate, my unboxings of previous months can be found below:
