Today I am excited to be unboxing the October Fairy Loot! Fairy Loot is a monthly subscription box focusing on Young Adult fantasy titles. You can get a single box from £26 per month (plus VAT and shipping) or you can choose to subscribe for 3 or 6 months.
I am currently subscribed to Fairy Loot and have been receiving their boxes for almost a year now. It is a box I always look forward to each month and I was particularly excited by this month’s theme. The theme for October was ‘Villainous’ and here is what was inside!
This month’s box contains two items designed by Evie Seo. The first of these I spotted was an item that I loved and got very excited about! This was a coaster featuring the quote ‘Every fairytale needs a good old fashioned villain’ which is inspired by Jim Moriarty! I am obsessed with the Sherlock TV series and I love Moriarty and this quote from him is perfect for the box. I also love the design itself and the colours are beautiful. I also loved the design on this ‘Raise Hell’ print by Evie which features a quote from The Aeneid by Virgil, a Roman poet. The lettering and the colours are great!
Fairy Loot boxes frequently contain candles and this month featured one from Meraki Candles. I am not the biggest candle fan but the Meraki candles have always been my favourites. This Maleficent candle is scented with jade orchid and lotus blossom which smells really lovely. The surface of the candle is also decorated with purple glitter which I love. Next up was a pocket mirror designed by Little Inkling Designs. Supplied in its own little drawstring bag this featured a quote from The Young Elites by Marie Lu. Another item I was excited about was Harry Potter themed (I can never have enough HP merchandise!) This was a very cute death eater pin designed by House Of Wonderland. I love the design of this and will be displaying this with my growing bookish pin collection!
One of the reasons I was excited about this month’s box was that it included a second hardcover book! This was a beautiful copy of The Language Of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo. This is a series of short stories that are beautifully illustrated and are inspired by the worlds visited in the Grisha series which I have not read yet. It also featured a Fairy Loot exclusive cover with the red foiling on this book not available on other editions! Also pictured are some gorgeous artwork postcards for the book.
And now it is time for this month’s main book which was Forest Of A Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao. This is a retelling of the Evil Queen story set in Eastern Asia which sounds interesting so I am looking forward to reading it! Accompanying the book there was a letter from the author and a signed bookplate which features the same artwork as the book! There was also the regular ‘Fairy Scoop’ leaflet, artwork bookmark, and reading buddy card.
I was very excited about this box and it did not disappoint! Once again all the items are exclusive to the box which makes it extra special and the inclusion of two hardcover books makes it excellent value. My favourite items this month are the Moriarty coaster and the death eater pin- thank you Fairy Loot! I am so excited about the November box, the theme of which is ‘Ladies That Slay’ and it features two books again so am looking forward to seeing what’s inside!
