Today I am excited to be unboxing the first Fairy Loot of 2018! Fairy Loot is a monthly subscription box focusing on Young Adult fantasy titles. You can get a single box from £26 per month (plus VAT and shipping) or you can choose to subscribe for 3 or 6 months.
I am currently subscribed to Fairy Loot and have been receiving this box for over a year and I love it! It is a box I always look forward to each month and the theme for January was ‘Talk Faerie To Me’ and here is what was inside!
This first item I saw was an item which is a regular feature in Fairy Loot – a candle! And whilst I am not the biggest fan of candles in general I have liked those I have received in these boxes. This month’s candle was from Meraki Candles which is a supplier I have enjoyed in the past and it is a ‘Prince Cardan’ candle which is related to this month’s featured book. I really liked the design of it and it is scented with oak, wood, leather and black pepper which smells great! It was also good to see that Fairy Loot collaborated with the author of the book to come up with a scent that represents the character. Next up was a lip balm from Geeky Clean. There was a choice of two lip balms provided representing light and dark and I got Seelie – and it smells really good!
There were a couple of items featured this month inspired by the Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas which is a series I read and enjoyed last year. The first was a gorgeous pillow case designed by Evie Bookish. I love the design and the colours and quote used worked really well. Then there was an adorable set of two magnetic bookmarks designed by Dreamy & Co. They feature the characters Rhysand and Feyre in their Illyrian outfits and they are very sweet – I have actually had my eye on some bookmarks like this so was pleased to see them in the box.
Fairy Loot always includes items created by talented artists and suppliers and I love to see the artwork that is included which brings the characters and fictional worlds to life. And in this box there were two double sided prints. On one side we had beautiful illustrations of Rowan and Aelin from the Throne of Glass series and these were by Diana Worak. On the reverse we had two bookish quotes with gorgeous backgrounds created by Stella’s Bookish Art. And to produce some art of your own, there was a ‘Faerieland’ colouring book created exclusively for the box by Michael O’Mara Books. In this book there are numerous magical and mythical creatures to colour along with information about them. I thought this was a nice inclusion and I may give it a go!
And now it is time for this month’s book which was The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. This is a book I have seen a lot of on social media so am looking forward to reading it. Accompanying the book there was a letter from the author and a signed bookplate as well as some artwork of Prince Cardan by Merwild. And of course there was also the regular ‘Fairy Scoop’ leaflet, artwork bookmark, and reading buddy card.
I thought this was another great box from Fairy Loot, and my favourite items this month aside from the book are the colouring book and pillow case. Next up in February the theme of the box is ‘Twisted Tales’ and this is a theme I am particularly excited about so I can’t wait to find out what is inside!
