Today it is time for another Fairy Loot unboxing! Fairy Loot is a monthly subscription box focusing on Young Adult fantasy titles. You can get a single box from £26 per month (plus VAT and shipping) or you can choose to subscribe for 3 or 6 months.
I am currently subscribed to Fairy Loot and have been receiving this box for over a year and I love it! Fairy Loot is a box I always look forward to each month and the theme for March was ‘Memorable Moments’ which coincides with Fairy Loot’s two year anniversary. I had to wait longer than usual for this box as due to technical issues the box didn’t get to me until mid-April. As a result the contents weren’t a surprise for me this month as I had already seen the spoilers but here is what was inside this month…
This box came with an item we haven’t received before in a box – some cork bunting. Supplied by Paladone, this was a bunting set which included pins to attach notes and photos which is the perfect size to fit to a shelf or desk. This isn’t an item I will use but I think this is a nice idea which works well within the theme in that you can save your own memorable moments on the bunting. There was also a Lord Of The Rings inspired item this month created exclusively for the box by Geeky Clean. This was a ‘Bilbo’s Birthday Cake’ soap which is scented with vanilla and strawberry which sounds delicious! Again I thought this fits the box theme nicely as it is inspired by a celebratory moment from the series.
One of the items I was looking forward to in this box was the Harry Potter inspired item. It came in the form of a ‘Goblet of Fire’ candle created by Paper Flames Candle Co. I loved the swirl design on the candle, and it was scented with fresh bread and chocolate which I wasn’t expecting! And this wasn’t the only chocolate based item in the box. There was a pack of luxury drinking chocolate from Eponine. This ‘Toast to the Warden of the North’ chocolate was inspired by Jon Snow in Game of Thrones and the packaging featured some great artwork from Till and Dill. I haven’t tried hot chocolate yet but may give this one a go!
My favourite item in the box was one which was a favourite in last year’s anniversary box – a scarf. This one was created by FictionTea Designs and it is a Rune Ceremony scarf inspired by the Shadowhunter books by Cassandra Clare. This is a series I haven’t read so I did not recognise what each of the rune symbols represented. However, the design on the scarf is quite subtle with a black and white design, so even if you are not familiar with the books it’s still a scarf that you would be happy to wear, and it is of a nice quality.
And now it is time for this month’s book which was State Of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury. This wasn’t a book I was familiar with but it looks to be an interesting read! I was also interested to see that the hardback edition of the book is exclusive to Fairy Loot and it includes a signed bookplate and postcard along with the author letter. And there was also an anniversary special of the regular ‘Fairy Scoop’ leaflet, artwork bookmark, and reading buddy card.
It was a bit of a frustrating month this month for me with the box arriving late and having already been spoilt on the contents, but I thought the items in the box were well thought out within the theme. As always I will be interested to read the book and the scarf was my favourite item in the box. I am very excited about April’s box, the theme of which is ‘Whimsical Journeys’ which will include an item from one of my favourite suppliers, Ink and Wonder!
