June has been another busy month on the blog where I managed to read eight books, seven which I reviewed this month, and another for a blog tour very soon! I also unboxed another three subscription boxes this month! Here is a recap…
I started the month by reading the final book in Sylvain Neuvel’s Themis Files trilogy, and Only Human was another great read which left me pondering about humanity. I continued the sci-fi and fantasy theme by reading Eve Of Man, the first in a new series by Giovanna and Tom Fletcher. This was a book I had been excited about reading and I loved it! And after reading the third in a trilogy followed by the first in a trilogy, I went on to a second as I read and enjoyed Legendary by Stephanie Garber, the second instalment in the Caraval series.
Next up I read the two books I picked up on my visit to the Hay Festival last month. I read my first graphic novel in years, Dull Margaret by Jim Broadbent and Dix, which I enjoyed and which has made me want to pick up graphic novels more in the future. I was also fascinated by Simon Mayo’s latest novel, Mad Blood Stirring, his first for adults. This was a compelling historical fiction story that had me hooked.
I also read a non-fiction book this month, which is another rare occurrence for me! But I am glad I picked up a copy of How Not To Be A Boy by Robert Webb, which is a very important book containing both heartbreak and humour as it covers some important issues about masculinity and gender stereotypes. I was also happy to finally get round to reading Kamila Shamsie’s award winning novel Home Fire, a powerful story of family and loyalty with an unforgettable ending.
I also had not one, not two, but three subscription boxes to open this month! I shared my unboxing of May’s ‘Save The Kingdom’ box from Fairy Loot as well as the June ‘Rebels In Ballgowns’ box. And finally, I received my second Wonder Crate from Ink and Wonder Designs which was packed with gorgeous bookish goodies!
I would like to thank everyone who has visited my blog this month and shared my posts, I really appreciate it; I will be back next month with more book reviews and subscription box unboxings! Have you read any of these books? Let me know what you think!
