Today I am very excited to be sharing my unboxing of the latest My Chronicle Book Box! This is a quarterly box which is available in one of two genre options – science fiction and fantasy or crime and mystery. I subscribe to the crime and mystery option, and here is what was inside this month’s box…
One thing I always love about this box is the attention to detail that goes into this putting it together and making it personal to each subscriber. On first opening the box the first thing I saw was the envelope addressed to me which contains exclusive author content and information on the books and goodies included in this month’s box, all sealed with a My Chronicle Book Box seal! And each of the books were individually wrapped which adds to the overall presentation of the box, here are the books featured this month…
The first book I opened was A Different Kind Of Evil by Andrew Wilson. This is a mystery novel set in the 1920’s featuring Agatha Christie so this definitely sounds like something I will enjoy! I also love the cover art on this hardback edition which also comes with a signed bookplate and the regular author interview which also makes for interesting reading.
Next up was a copy of A Shot In The Dark by Lynne Truss. This is the first in a new series from a much loved writer. I enjoy books set in different eras and this novel set in 1950’s Brighton also uses comedy which will be something a bit different for me. And again there is an interview with Lynne to go alongside the book. This was also a hardback copy with a fab cover!
The last book was The Dead Ex by bestselling author Jane Corry. This looks to be a gripping crime thriller which I am looking forward to reading. This is paperback copy which is signed by the author and comes with an author interview.
Each month alongside the three books there are bookish goodies included in the box. And the first one I picked out was a Hercule Poirot inspired print designed by Teddyandgoo. This is a simple, striking design featuring a quote which would be a great addition to a crime bookshelf. Next up was an item inspired by another beloved character – Sherlock Holmes! This was a brooch from Nabu Online which features charms inspired by the character – including his violin, magnifying glass, scarf and pipe. I love this item and think it looks great and the packaging was lovely too. There was also a pack of storytelling pencils from Ustudio Design which includes six pencils featuring literary slogans. This is an item that will come in useful and maybe inspire some storytelling!
Once again I am really pleased with My Chronicle Book Box. From the great presentation with the personal touches through to the well chosen bookish goodies and the varied selection of books themselves this is a great box and one I really enjoy receiving. I am looking forward to reading books which I may not have picked out myself, and I am particularly looking forward to reading A Different Kind Of Evil. I am already excited for November’s box!
