Today I am very excited to be sharing my unboxing of the November My Chronicle Book Box! This is a quarterly box which is available in one of two genre options – science fiction and fantasy or crime and mystery. I have been subscribed to the crime and mystery box for a year now and it is always one I look forward to receiving. Here is what was inside this month’s box…
One thing I always love about this box is the attention to detail that goes into this putting it together and making it personal to each subscriber. On first opening the box the first thing I saw was the envelope addressed to me which contains exclusive author content and information on the books and goodies included in this month’s box, all sealed with a My Chronicle Book Box seal! And each of the books were individually wrapped which adds to the overall presentation of the box, here are the books featured this month…
The first book I opened was Believe Me by JP Delaney. I have not read anything by this author before but it is a name that was familiar with so I am looking forward to reading this one which is described as a twisty psychological thriller. The box also includes an exclusive interview with the author which always makes for interesting reading.
Next up I was excited to find a copy of The Corset by Laura Purcell! This was another author who I was familiar with, and I have been meaning to pick up her previous novel, The Silent Companions, for a while. The Corset is a historical mystery which appeals to me as a historical fiction fan, and the cover art is beautiful. We were also lucky to receive a signed bookplate from Laura as well as an author letter.
The last book was Cold Breath by Quentin Bates. I am familiar with Quentin Bates’ work, as I am a fan of Ragnar Jonasson’s Dark Iceland series which is translated by Quentin. And Cold Breath is an example of Nordic noir and I am looking forward to reading this on a cold winter evening! There was also a signed bookplate and author interview included.
Each month alongside the three books there are bookish goodies included in the box. This month there was a cosy winter reading candle made exclusively for the box by Bookworm Candles & Crafts. This is a very sweet smelling candle and I love the design of it. There was also a double sided print inspired by The Corset, a 2019 calendar bookmark, and some murder mystery page markers from That Company Called If which fit in nicely with the theme of the box!
I was really happy with My Chronicle Book Box this month, due to the quality of the books included as well as it arriving very early and being presented wonderfully as usual. I am looking forward to discovering the work of new authors, with The Corset in particular being one I want to read very soon!
