February wasn’t as productive a month for me reading wise, and I did find myself in a bit of a reading slump mid month. That said I still managed to read and review five books, you can click on the titles below to read my reviews!
My first read of the month was The Binding by Bridget Collins which was one of my most anticipated reads for this year. And I thought this was an intriguing and enjoyable debut which explores the magic and secrets that you may find hidden in the spines of books. Next up I read Dirty Little Secrets by Jo Spain. I have previously enjoyed the work of this author and this was another entertaining read. This was a gripping thriller set in a small gated community, in which all of the neighbours have something to hide as investigations begin to find out who is responsible for their neighbours death.
My next read was one chosen by my book club in the form of The Wicked Cometh by Laura Carlin. I was drawn to this dark, historical story, but it was one I struggled to get into in parts. That said there were some interesting moments and some dark secrets to be uncovered in the London slums. I then went on to read a book I have been meaning to read for a while. I adored Pachinko by Min Jin Lee and it is one of my favourites that I have read so far this year. A sprawling saga that follows a Korean family in Japan over the course of a century, this was a fascinating and compelling read I was sad to leave behind.
My final read of the month was The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell. This was another book I really enjoyed this month and has cemented Laura Purcell as an author whose work I will be following and picking up in the future. This creepy, Victorian gothic story about a young widow and the sinister occurrences in her new home made for an atmospheric read that had me hooked.
And also this month, with thanks to My Chronicle Book Box, I was able to unbox their February science fiction and fantasy subscription box.
Thank you to everyone who has visited my blog in February. I hope you enjoyed my reviews and maybe found something new to add to your own TBR!
