Today I am very excited to be sharing my unboxing of the latest My Chronicle Book Box! This is a quarterly box which is available in one of two genre options – science fiction and fantasy or crime and mystery. When I subscribed I was torn between the two but decided to go with crime and mystery as this is a genre I don’t buy as frequently, so I was looking forward to discovering some books and authors I may not have picked up otherwise.
The first thing I noticed on opening the box was the attention to detail that goes into this putting it together. I loved the envelope addressed to me which contains exclusive author content and information on the books and goodies included in this month’s box. And I also loved the sticker with my name on inside the box! I really like the overall presentation and the way the books are individually wrapped – so I was excited to find out what was inside this month!
The first item I spotted was a gorgeous print featuring a quote from Hermione! I am a big fan of the Harry Potter series with Hermione being a favourite character of mine so I was excited to see this in the box. It was created by Boka Print and I was impressed with the quality and the fact it had a card frame which kept it in good condition, I am going to find a place for it on my bookshelves. I was also excited to see a cute little notebook made for the box by WhirlingWorld. This was a library card themed design which I loved and I am going to use this to keep track of the books I read this year. Then there was a lip balm created by Lovely Cosmetics. These were named with Bookish Puns and I got Clockwork Orange which smells great!
I love to have a cup of tea whilst relaxing with a book so I was pleased to see that there were two varieties of loose leaf tea included. There were five possible options all of which were chosen for the box by the owner of the The Gilded Teapot. I got Classic Chai and Dorset Brew which I am looking forward to trying. And to go with the tea there was a tea infuser made exclusively for the box by Home2Inspire. It features the quote ‘All you need is tea and good books’ which I can certainly agree with.
And now it is on to those good books! There were three books included in the box which I was very excited about and I really enjoyed unwrapping them all to see what was in store. The first book I opened was ‘The Devil’s Claw’ by Lara Dearman. I really liked the sound of this one which is the story of a woman who returns to her childhood home and ends up investigating a dark past. This also included a postcard and signed bookplate along with an author interview.
The next book was from an author whose name I recognised having heard a lot about this book recently! This was a hardcover copy of ‘The Confession’ by Jo Spain. This sounds like an intriguing story and I have heard great things about it so I am looking forward to reading it. And there was also a signed bookplate included.
And finally, there was a copy of ‘Murder At The Mill’ by M.B. Shaw, the pen name of Tilly Bagshawe. This is an Iris Grey mystery which I haven’t come across before but looks to be a cosy crime story. This came with a signed bookplate and an author interview. As with the November 2017 box I liked that the three books all offer something a little different – I am looking forward to reading them all!
Once again I am delighted with My Chronicle Book Box. From the beautiful presentation with the personal touches through to the well chosen bookish goodies and the varied selection of books themselves this is a great box and one I really enjoy receiving. I am very much looking forward to the next box!
